Learn how fun and easy reverse needle-turn appliqué by hand can be while you create the Lace Flourish block (10” x 10”) from Chantilly Lace (20” x 60”) put out by Eye of the Beholder Quilt Designs.  Hand appliqué is a labor of love, but it doesn’t have to be hard or intimidating.  Come join the fun and learn my favorite technique for creating your own beautiful hand-stitched creations.    The process I use gives you great control over your piece, allowing you to have sharp points, crisp corners and graceful circles. You will love the results you get and you don’t get hung up on the pins.   I will lead you step by step through the process, start to finish, empowering you to do reverse needle-turn appliqué by hand, do it like a pro and enjoy it!

Required: Chantilly Lace, table runner XIV pattern - $18.00**

     Chantilly Lace table runner has 8 – 10” Reverse Applique Lace Flourish blocks set with pieced rectangles. Pattern includes full-sized pattern pieces and directions to reverse applique by hand or machine and assemble table runner.

 BRING TO CLASS: Supply List below is to make 1 – 10” x 10” Lace Flourish block*

                Pre-wash and iron fabric before first class.

  • Chantilly Lace table runner XIV pattern
  • 11.5” x 11.5” of light batik for background
  • 11.5” x 11.5” of medium – dark batik for top
  • No. 7 Sharps needle for basting
  • No. 11 Milliners needle for appliqué
  • 1 spool of Button or quilting thread for basting (CONTRASTING COLOR to top batik)
  • 1 Spool of thread for stitching (SAME COLOR as top batik)
  • 1 pair small, sharp scissors
  • 5 - 8 safety pins for pin basting, or straight pins
  • Mechanical pencil or Frixion gel pen for tracing pattern onto light background batik
  • Helpful items: Light box (to trace design onto background fabric); Needle threader for small-eyed needle

*Layering and finishing will not be part of the scope of this class.
