It is with great joy that I announce that I will be teaching at the Academy of Applique in February 2022, live and in-person. And I’m very excited about the project, Summertime, that I’ve created just for this class. Quilting is a creative act of hope, and I hope you will join me!

You are invited to attend the Academy of Applique in historic Williamsburg, VA Feb 28 – Mar 5, 2022. The Academy offers classes catering to the beginner, intermediate and advanced stitcher. All types of appliqué are taught from wool to needle turn, back basting to Hawaiian, broderie perse to freezer paper. Each appliqué journey begins with a single step-and where better to begin than at the world- renowned Kingsmill Resort with surroundings sure to inspire! Spend a week with old friends and make some new ones along the way. Improve your skills, learn a new appliqué technique, try a new pattern - or start on your appliqué curriculum with nationally known teachers.

I chose to create Summertime, a project I’ve been dreaming of for quite a while. And now, post pandemic, I hope, its beauty of renewal with bursting blooms and singing birds is a message of hope and faith to inspire new ife. We will focus on the tree center medallion in our time together. It is created with reverse applique and applique. The leaves are a combination of under-colored reverse applique and two toned applique for multi-dimensions. The quilt was designed in fabrics by Batik Textiles. Kits will be available.
