Do you ever wonder where to begin stitching on an applique block? In our method you mark on the back and applique on the front. We’ll work together thinking it through step-by-step, layer by layer, from background to foreground as we patiently build and stitch the sweet little Impatiens block using our Trace, Baste, Snip & Stitch method, the easy way to hand needle-turn applique. Plus we’ll look at other blocks as learning opportunities. The Impatiens block is excerpted from our newest quilt, Grandmother’s Kitchen, evoking the cozy heart and comforting hearth of the family home. Our method makes it pleasureable to stitch by hand and so, sew simple to get graceful curves and crisp inside and outside points. Join the fun and let Margaret share with you how.
If you want to learn a bit about this technique before the workshop, check out our Tutorials section on the website: Hand Reverse Appliqué tutorial.
See below for downloadable Workshop preparation/materials list and Pre-cutting list. It’s essential that you pre-cut as there will not be time in the workshop to do this, so this will help us make best use of our time together. All links open in a new window.
There are required Materials for a fee that must be purchased in addition to the workshop.
If you’d like us to select your materials for you, you can also choose to buy an optional fabric kit put together by us perfectly to suit the Mola design and style. There are 2 colorways to choose from.
