Learn hand reverse applique as you make the playful Lollipop Flower block that’s perfect for brand new hand stitching beginners. You will learn the quick and easy steps in Eye of the Beholder’s trace, baste, snip and stitch signature method for hand reverse appliqué.
As you stitch, experience the exciting interplay of two fabrics harmonizing together and coming alive in your hands, to create beauty and joy.
You will get pointers on how to successfully needle-turn appliqué, giving you crisp points and corners that don’t fray, and graceful curves. Supply List below is to make 1 – 7 ½” x 7 ½” Lollipop Flower block
Required pattern, included in virtual class cost: Lollipop Flower-PDF pattern – Pattern is emailed once you register and pay for the class.
1 – 8 ½” x 8 ½” square Medium/Dark batik, top fabric *
1 – 8 ½” x 8 ½” square Light batik, background fabric *
1 – No. 7 Sharps Needle for basting*
1 – No. 11 Milliner’s needle for hand reverse applique*
1 spool of Button/ hand quilting thread (28 - 40 wt.) for basting (CONTRASTING COLOR to top fabrics)*
1 spool each of 50, 60 or 80 wt. threads for hand stitching (SAME COLORS as top & appliqué fabrics)
5 safety pins for pin basting
Mechanical pencil or Frixion gel pen* for tracing pattern onto wrong side of background fabric
1 pair small, sharp scissors*(recommend our Kai bent-handled, slightly-blunt-tipped scissors)

The following items will be needed to finish as a Mug Rug/ Potholder. Finishing will not be part of the scope of the class.
1 – 9” x 9” square Medium/Dark backing fabric;
1 – 2” x 36” Binding strip. Or add Insul-bright and turn into a quilted potholder.

1 - Background fabric square cut to 8 ½” x 8 ½”, with entire Lollipop Flower pattern traced onto the wrong side.
1 - Top fabric square cut to 8 ½” x 8 ½”.

· No. 11 Milliner’s needle for stitching
1 spool of 28-40 wt. Button/ hand cotton quilting thread for basting (CONTRASTING COLOR to top/ appliqué fabrics)
Threads (50, 60, 80 wt. or silk) for stitching (SAME COLORS as top/ appliqué fabric)
1 pair small, sharp scissors
5 safety pins for pin basting
